Illustrated Guide: Alto de São João Cemetery
Um guia ilustrado do Cemitério do Alto de São João, em Lisboa. Criado em 1833, este cemitério inicialmente serviu a população da zona oriental da cidade, tornando-se, no século XX, o mais procurado para a construção de jazigos. Local de eleição da elite republicana, foi também lá que foi edificado o primeiro crematório do país. Este guia destaca algumas das obras e histórias mais marcantes, convidando o visitante a explorar a rica simbologia do lugar. Serve ainda como ponto de partida ideal para descobrir outros tesouros escondidos neste espaço único da cidade.
Publicação realizada em conjunto com o Cemitério dos Prazeres. O lançamento de ambos os guias está previsto para a primavera de 2025.

︎︎︎An illustrated guide to the Alto de São João Cemetery in Lisbon. Created in 1833, this cemetery initially served the population of the eastern part of the city, becoming, in the 20th century, the most sought-after for the construction of tombs. A favourite haunt of the Republican elite, it was also where the country's first crematorium was built. This guide highlights some of the most remarkable works and stories, inviting visitors to explore the rich symbolism of the place. It also serves as the ideal starting point for discovering other hidden treasures in this unique part of the city.
This publication was produced in conjunction with the Prazeres Cemetery. Both guides are due to be launched in spring 2025.
